I went on a lovely trip today to holiday extras, a potential company for my year in industry. Out of all the jobs that we’ve been shown I really want to work for them - but alas I can’t because I already have a job. They really should have asked for CV’s before the Christmas Holidays - the guy I’m working for next year really got in there early. I did feel a bit of a fraud going in there with a job but I’m serious about working there after uni so it will probably work out in the end!
I went round for an open day, looking at the building and how the business works. They have a web team of 80! Graphics are done by one team, templating (using smarty - not my favourite templating engine *cough*WP!*cough* but still ok) then content and testing as well. Although essentially all they do is rebrand existing sites changing the css - I do like a css challenge but not for essentially the same product day in day out! Because of that I’d probably do the development side of things. Out comes the PHP book (for the hundreth time!)
I felt a bit bad that we completely slagged off our course to one of the guys there but he’s on the industry board so potentially he could get a few things changed.

Sounds like a good open day. Sucks that they don’t use Wordpress though.
