I went up to london last Tuesday for a Games Career fair, it was fantastically uninteresting so we went to bond street instead! We did get a few freebies though - w00t! Everyone went home then except for me - I had to go home because on Wednesday I was meeting Prince Phillip!
We had to be there by 11:45 we got their quite early but the queue for our group was massive! Thankfully we skipped most of it and joined some other people from my year. When we finally got in they hadn’t even saved me a seat - so I sat behind them and chatted away with the girl next to me.
St James’s Palace is amazing. Some of you might know about my obsession with old paintings especially portraits. There we’re hundreds - I was in my element. There were lovely prints too.
It was funny that all the girls, yes it was mostly girls were all chatting away - I met a girl from my uni, we’re meeting up sometime! and the parents who were put on the other side of the room didn’t speak!
All the gold participants from each area of the UK we’re divided into 4 rooms then each group in turn divided into another four. We were then told to form a semi circle within our group. Damn me for being small I ended up at the front!
It wasn’t the duke who presented the awards it was someone whose name I’ve forgotten. Hes the youngest person to climb everest and hes a nutter! (and frightlyfully pr0sh innit!) they got to the third group giving out certificates and then the duke came in. I suppose I should say for the benefit of those too lazy to click the wikipedia link above that Prince Philip (the duke of edinburgh) is the Queens Husband.
Hes very funny and isn’t shy of saying things! He told off the guy who gave us our certificates for not being there on the previous day! He talked to practically everyone in the room I swear!
After the duke left we carried on with the presentation and had some photos taken. My dad and I went over the road to see the photos but you couldn’t see them before you bought them - thankfully their online.
