Because no one can be bothered reading about Canada (and quite frankly it doesn’t make for fascinating writing on my behalf) I’m going to do the rest in summary :). Makes it easier on the poor sick me.
Quebec
- An 8 hour train to Quebec from Toronto stopping briefly at Montreal to change trains.
- There we’re two fantastic things about the Delta Quebec, one, the food, OMG the food. I do like hot dogs and pizza but sometimes you want some veggies on your plate. I love crunchy green beans. Thank god for the French influence is all I can say. Secondly, the hotel had free internet woo!
- The two bad things about Quebec - They all speak french, and I havn’t, since GCSE (which I did get an A for) and well this is kind of good too..but not in this circumstance. My room was 2 floors above my parents round the other side of the hotel (which is shaped like a U) but guess who got all the screaming children on their floor. ARG Its like being at uni all over again only with 90children instead 4 screachy people who should know better. (Still bitter)
- We did another City Tour - fittest guide evar :P!
- Quebec is very very pretty
- This is the only photo my hair looks good (I dyed it btw) and you can see the worlds most photographed hotel! (apparently) which is where we might have stayed if we’d gotten the ‘posh’ package, we got the middle one. I’m also standing in front of ‘Rachel’ The biggest gun I’ve ever seen in the citadel. Which is still an active army base *ahem*
unfortunately its the only french speaking regiment of the canadian army! bums.
Montreal
- Not as pretty as quebec, nor as clean as toronto. Our hotel was across the road from the train station!
- We did another city tour, this time on a massive coach in french and english, you didn’t really get a sense of the place from that tour.
- After the tour we couldn’t think of anything else to do as theres not that many landsites so we went’ to the biodome, I fell in love with a puffin there, they have such expressionate little faces, I love puffins!
Toronto/Keene
- Back to Toronto, we had to find our way to the thrifty car rental place on some street, somewhere. We managed to get the thrifty man to drive us from his rental place to the other one, who it turns out didn’t have a booking for us! So he gave us the nastiest cheapest car he had. A dodge Charger. Its horrible, I drove it for about 5 minutes and longed for my car, Its only a hyundai getz but at least the steering wheel works! *shudders* why would someone buy one of them is beyond me!
- Thrifty gave us the shittest map ever. Didn’t even tell us where we were on it! They didn’t know where Keene was either. Thankfully I googled it and I have a photographic memory so we knew what direction to head in!
- mmm Maccidees for dinner! We bought a fucking expencive map too! Who wants to buy it!? We don’t need a map of ontario, funnily enough!
- We found Keene and then Elmhirsts’s resort
- The cabins weren’t garden sheds!! It fact they had widescreen TV’s! No aircon though, it got up to 36C!
- We bought an adventure pack, which left me pretty much crippled! It involved a ‘cruise‘ with some OAP’s :P! Going on ATV’s (quadbikes) which hurt my thumb
but we’re otherwise pretty fun! (If in doubt floor it!) Horse Riding, the stirrups we’re facing the wrong way which was more painful to my knees than I can possible describe, they swelled up so much after that. An Aquaplane, a little rickety perhaps but fun! - Going to the supermarket was interesting. They have vinegar in bottles bigger than 2 litre milk cartons! mmm. Nothing comes in normal sizes and its all SO expensive. Maple syrup is cheaper here!
- There was a hail storm at the end of the week, The hail was the size of ice cubes
- We got lost on the way back to the airport, arrived an hour before the plane was due to take off! Luckily through the powers of my dads gold card we didn’t have to queue with the other people and got straight to the front of the queue, we even had 5 minutes in the BA lounge!
- No inflight entertainment on the plane! ARG! Although the flight took much less time, slightly concerned when the pilot said ‘we took a shortcut through the night’ I dont think I want to know :S!
- Considering we came home a few days after the car bombings there were little changes, bigger queues at passport control and clog up by the people transferring to t4. Cars weren’t allowed near the arrivals building and the land nearest the departures was closed. I never noticed those huge concrete boulders before outside Heathrow.
Check me knowing what I’m doing! I did ride for 6 years when I was younger!

Hi Han! Thanks for dropping by my blog and taking some time to leave a comment as well :D I’m eternally grateful! Well I’ve never been to Canada before (and I wanted to go there very badly, especially Vancouver, the city being voted as one of the best cities to live on planet Earth), so this post is like an eye-opener for me! The photos are gorgeous, especially the one with you (and your dyed hair) featuring the hotel in the background which is reeking of strong architechural style ^^ sorry to hear that you’ve got Thrifty! Some car rentals can be really nasty… and they’re very common in my hometown. Geez.
Have a great weekend!
P.S. You’re blogrolled :P have fun!
