Keep joining my forum!

I have an insightful post lined up about the metro thing but I’m not going to post it yet, its not really my style! Speaking of my style I found this in my referrals.
“eruanna.net has fallen victim [to advertising on sites] as well. I never really expected her site to start in with it.”

I hate advertising, I really, really, really do. But I don’t think my ads affect my site, do you? (Please tell me if you think they do!!) I’ve tried to make them small and as unobtrusive as possible but without compromising their positions so that people do click on them. I’m very fussy about how good my site looks and if an ad ruins my layout – its gone!

I never said why I started advertising. Putting it simply, I need the money for this site! Every single text-link-ads referral has gone straight into this site, into the paypal and then a few days after the payments gone in, my hosting subscription takes it out. My hostings not that expensive (in case your wondering), but neither is my earnings so it balances.

Adsense, well…to be honest that serves no purpose but for me to look in my status bar and see how my ‘vast fortune’ (note the use of sarcasm) has grown by a cent.

This sort of advertising is fine in my opinion, as long as its not ‘click me click me’ or it tricks you into clicking it. I’ve been on sites where the adsense is positioned and I’ve thought it was the navigation!

Pay per Post, is a different matter. I admit, I tried it out, but it wasn’t for me. Its so…false and I hate it. PPP (to me) communicates a person who doesn’t care about what their putting on their site, of course there might be one or two posts that suit a particular site but I’m speaking generally here. You will never, ever see a PPP entry on eruanna.net because none of its very ‘me’. Blogtoprofit I’m unsure about, I like the creativity of coming up with sentences to go with the links.

grumpysmudge

A quick update on smudge, she had her stitches out on wednesday, but shes got to be in the cage for another 4 weeks! shes gonna hate it! She needs to run around and eat mice, its what she does, its so cruel keeping her in a cage, but it is for her own good.

My parents are also now considering moving back to Singapore for a few years and taking the cats with them! Can you imagine her in Singapore! She’d melt – shes so hairy!

We got a new TV today *evil grin* its bigger than me! 42″ plasma baby and its huge! I’ve played Project Gotham Racing on it all morning and its brilliant. Its a shame the controller I bought the other day doesn’t work! As my dad was rather enjoying it too! I’m looking forward to watching Great British Menu on it this afternoon. I’m also wondering how we can get BBC High Def because we can’t get the sky HD channels. I’m desperate for Discovery HD because of the amount of american chopper they show!

You know what irritates me more than the adverts? The stupidly tiny text size for comments/in your sidebars :S

    Sorry, I know this isn’t a “criticise eruanna.net” entry really :3

I don’t think the ads are obtrusive. It’s not even distracting. So yeah, it definitely merges with the whole website. I think it’s actually a smart way of putting ads. :D Singapore isn’t as hot as it seems. Be afraid, be very faraid if you’re going to travel to my country at this time of the year. because you’ll melt, no doubt. And they won’t find even a lick of trace of you. *lol*

You have moved your ads from the top to the bottom since my last visit so now I don’t see them as the very first thing so I am not affected at all :)

The link to your MB doesn’t work :(

Animals who had surgery is awful. My dog had to wear one of those things around her head until the stitches was completely gone after a sterilization and she became all traumatized from wearing it. I hope your cat will cope better of course :)

I don’t think the ads affect your site. I think its all looks good you can’t even tell. Nice TV too.

If anything you need more ads. That way you can buy me a jeep.

“She needs to run around and eat mice, its what she does, its so cruel keeping her in a cage, but it is for her own good.” – no WAY! I said the exact same thing about my sister the other day!

Your TV makes me smile and giggle!

I hardly noticed the ads on your site :P I don’t think it’s a big deal to have text link ads, but sites that consist mainly of PPP or BfP links/ads irks me. :(

Glad to hear that your cat is doing fine! But it sucks that she will have to stay in that cage for 4 weeks. Is there any way she’ll be able to walk around a bit, or will she be stuck? Just wondering.

42″ plasma TV  I’m trying to convince my mom to buy one for us, but she still refuses to get one

These smilies are absolutely adorable :lovechicks: I love them, they’re so cute :P

BBC HD is free but theres (well when i was in the uk) fek all on it worth watching!

HD is currently only worthwhile if you watch sports or are prepared to pay the 5 or 6 grand necessary on the rest of the equipment including the tv!

    give it a few years!

glad to hear smudge is on the mend but dont your parents realise he’ll get eaten in crazy lands like that!!

Kathy – I know what you mean thats so stupid, its like your being forced to blog and I like to wait a few days for the impact of smudge being in a cage for 4 more weeks to sink in to the blogosphere!

Jordan – I very rarely take anything seriously!! I just took it as constructive criticism!

Melissa – ew popups! I hate them but their less common now thanks to popup blockers etc. thank god!

I’d say your ads are very unobtrusive and actually I didn’t even notice them at first!

Small text ads rarely annoy me but a website plastered with them is a big no-no. And Pay per Post is a whole another story. I hate PPP and I hate web log entries that are sponsored by PPP because they are all the same, just link after a link to websites. Now, I’m sure some people manage to write interesting PPP entries but I have yet to find one :(

Your advertisements are fine and there’s nothing wrong with monetizing your site. Without advertisements half of the webs content would never be found I don’t know why so many people have issues with adverts.

The pop-up/pop-under dirty ones I can understand as no one wants things thrown in their face but normal adverts placed on sites is no different than linking someone.

Sure you make money from it but just like with your blogroll or any other text link you put up for viewing it’s helping someone get their site out there.

Besides it’s not like you have a super giant ad dominating your page and it’s not like you’re just using your site for money. That’d be a different story so don’t worry about what that person said you’re doing nothing wrong ;)

*DOH* Unobtrusive! That’s what I meant!

I’m honestly glad that you didn’t take my comment about your site out of context and get uppity about it. I truly do enjoy coming to your site, but I’ve just been disappointed as of late with some of the ads being here. I realize it’s your site, so I never said anything to you since I felt that I had no bearing on what should and should not be here because your site != my site! =)

Your ads are obtrusive, it was more so just mentioning that your site started to add ads and not so much that it was ruining the content.

So no hard feelings, I didn’t mean any! :cherries: :babyheart:

Actually, I didn’t notice the ads until you mentioned them in your blog. I don’t think that it effects your layout at all.

On my website, I do paid postings, but not FREQUENTLY. I also use blogtoprofit, which I think is great, but I hate the fact that you only have one day to complete one post; ex. 5 days to complete 5 posts. It ruins the order and makes the blogging such a nausiance, and hectic. I wish they’d give a few more days =/ I completely agree; I think ads would be fine if you just don’t overdo it and make your site seem like a money making site, when it’s a personal site. (I don’t mean personally you when I say you, but people in general :) )

    Lovely site! And pictures!

To tell you the truth I didn’t notice the ads until you mentioned them. I think I’m partially blind when it comes to them since I’ve visited far too many sites which douse themselves in desperate plea’s for moolah. I can understand your reasons and they don’t make a drastic impact upon your layout or the general quality of your site!

Aw, poor Smudge! My cat Billy was run over (by my dad, on accident – long story), and we had to keep him confined for a couple of months whilst his leg healed. We made this little roofless cage for him and he used to escape with his leg cast and all! So many memories of us having to capture him using our coats – angry kitties can be lethal when they are perched on fences!

In regards to your comment on my website, my boyfriend, Mike, has a tonne of helix piercings which don’t look too painful after they’ve healed but tragus piercings look cringe-worthy. His sister had one which looked really cute but it looked really painful – funny because I’m not the sort of person to be squeemish about that sort of thing (I tug Mike’s piercings all the time, it’s a wonderful passtime).

Sky HD (including the BBC HD) need the sky HD box. It’s expensive, and not too brilliant. I can’t notice the difference.

Fuck em. Tell them to get adblock for firefox. It isn’t affecting your layout and you’re getting money for it, then it’s fine :)
