A few weeks ago my dad went for a business trip in Egypt and he brought back a whole load of Japanese sweets, a gift from a Japanese guy who was there. My dad gave them to me when he got back and I finally got around to eating them the other day!! The outside is red bean paste and the brown ones had glutinous rice in the middle and the white ones have a yellow paste in the middle. I love red bean paste (especially in mooncakes!) but these ones really weren’t that appealing! Have some photos.

If you’ve been visiting this site over the past few weeks you may have seen an ‘internal server error’, a half loaded page or just a plain white page. This is because my current host has a limit on the amount of CPU usage.

Budget resellers may not use more than 1% CPU daily, 3% memory daily, run more than 5 simultaneous processes per user, run any process that consumes more than 10% of available CPU at any time, or run any process that consumes more than 16 MB of memory. Databases are limited to 8 max user connections with a max query time of 5 seconds. Cron jobs must not execute more than once every hour and will be niced to 15 or greater.

My sites *just* goes over that 16mb load when you load it. I’ve been using WP-Cache for sometime but only just realised it wasn’t enabled – heh, so now the problem should be less frequent.

I’m annoyed with myself for not finding out about this ‘catch’ before I knew their plans were too good to be true! Ever since the guy emailed me with that snippet you see above I’ve been trying to find it on their site and I can’t! So maybe its not so much my fault!

I have three choices, Have a site that only half loads for some people, upgrade my account on their servers or move hosts (for the 4th time!) and do you know what, I’m really tempted to move. I’ve found a great host who I’m considering, though I’ve sent them an email asking about their CPU usage policy, just in case! They have a better plan for an extra $10 a month, making hosting

Do any of you remember be telling you that I have a problem, its gotten worse! I’ve just signed up to Orkut, google’s social network! I’m actually pretty impressed although there’s certainly room for improvement.

Theres profiles and communities, but you can make custom groups for your friends, which is so useful! It’d be better if I had some friends to group though!

You can also import feeds, add people to your ‘crush/hot list’ which is a dating feature I suppose. Theres a scrapbook on which people can post and the site integrates with picassa and youtube/google video nicely too.

Its only real down falls are not being able to edit your profile, even a custom background would be cool and all the communities are full of spammers. A simple ‘report as spam’ option would be great for this, say 1 spam report flags it to the rest of the community and the more spam flags it gets the quicker it’ll go!
